VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) are widely present in living and industrial production environments. The photochemical smog they form in the atmosphere is mostly carcinogenic, teratogenic, and mutagenic, posing great harm to the environment and human health. Therefore, the generation of VOC online monitoring systems is aimed at monitoring VOC emissions to reduce their harm to the atmosphere and human health. So what gases are specifically monitored by the VOC online monitoring system?
At present, many developed regions have issued corresponding laws to limit VOCs emissions and added VOCs to monitoring projects. There are 56 types of VOCs in the photochemical automatic monitoring system in the United States, and more than 30 types of VOCs are also included in Europe. The Comprehensive Emission Standards for Air Pollutants (GB16297-2004) in China strictly stipulate the emission thresholds for 33 types of air pollutants, and clearly specify the upper limits for the emission of benzene, phenols, aniline, and benzene substances. These gases are the main monitoring directions of existing VOC online monitoring systems in China.
In the specific application of VOC online monitoring systems, the monitoring items vary depending on the emissions of gases from the manufacturing industry. The fixed pollution source VOCs mainly come from the spraying industry, leather industry, petrochemical plants, printing industry, sewage/garbage treatment plants, gas station leaks, biomass, coal burning, semiconductor industry, metallurgical industry, etc. The main detection indicators are benzene series compounds, non methane total hydrocarbons, and some volatile organic solvents.
According to relevant literature research, the main monitoring factors for online monitoring of industrial organic waste gas in centralized industrial parks are TVOC and hydrogen sulfide; The cooking fume generated by the catering industry mainly includes benzene, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and other harmful substances, and the exhaust gas pollutants during the operation period mainly include settleable particles, fine particles and hydrocarbons; Automobile exhaust contains a large number of olefins and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons such as butene, among which C8H10, possibly ethyl benzene, is the high content.
